This is just another you could say typical case...about service provider staff who are mis informed or not trained with up to date migrant issues:
The kind of thing we see day in day out!!

A lithuanian migrant worker today has brought in a letter they received regarding a benefits claim.

Now bear in mind the facts:
Lithuanian worker paid NIC for 4 years in the UK
Paid PAYE
Never been unemployed til now
Has council accomodation
Gave birth to a baby girl in a NHS hospital
Registered with doctors/social work/denists
Gets child tax credit and benefit.


The letter states that she has no entitlement to benefits as she has no right to reside in the United Kingdom

Make of it what you will....
Like I say, we see this all the time.
how much time and resources are being wasted as a result of misinformed staff.

Another case we were involved with recently....
A Bulgarian family have their house broken into.
The family call out our case workers and our interpreter....
Our Interpreter contacts the police and makes arrangements for them to visit the victims.
The Police civilian telephone staff insist that they must use their own interpreter.
Information is exchanged.
So our Interpreter goes home as he is not required. Then Police turn up 3 hours later with a Polish Interpreter..
The excuse.. We couldn't get hold of a Bulgarian Interpreter, so someone suggested get a Polish one...........................................
The victims did not speak a word of Polish.
The Police and their Interpreter went away without taking any statements....


No wonder eveyones screaming about Interpreter costs if interpreters are getting paid to do nothing...

Let's get it right first time....

The above is the most common excuse... by service providers and agencies.

The rest of the Eu migarnts have become frustrated and disorientated that they are automatically categorised as Polish.

Recenly a hospital patient who spoke Lithuanian was given her medicine instructions in Polish.. The excuse..they could not find a Lithianian translater and claimed they don't know
if or when they could get them translated into Lithuanian.
The patient could speak a little Poilish but had no knowledge of the written language.

Not only is this csausing a problem for the migrants but it is also making the staff at these agencies and organisations very frustrated...and hindering them from doing their work efficiently.
