The ICF has noticed a significant number of new migrants arriving from Bulgaria and Romania into the Falkirk area.
As you will be aware the Rights of the migrants to work in the UK are very diffrent to many others.
Romania and Bulgaria are A2 countries and they joined the EU on 1 January 2007. A Romanian or Bulgarian national who would like to come to work legally in the UK after 1 July /2007 can do so in the following circumstances:
Through an employer/employment agency which must recruit an A2 national obtaining an Accession Worker Card or a Seasonal Agricultural Workers' Scheme visa before they start working in the UK.
Self-employed - any Romanian or Bulgarian national can come to the UK to start a business.
Highly Skilled Migrant Programme - The programme is designed to allow highly skilled people, degree holders and above only, to come to the UK to look for work or self-employment opportunities. The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme is different from the work permit arrangements because you do not need a specific job offer in the UK to apply.
It is different from business routes such as the Innovators scheme because you do not need a detailed business plan, you do not need to create jobs, and you do not need to invest in the UK.
